Go to sleep little one!

We've been on a good role this week with naps, but today Scott is working from home and it's slightly thrown our routine off a bit. In Mason's world when daddy's home that mean it's time to let the good times roll. Not that when it's just him and I we don't let the good time role he just tends to be a little bit more stubborn when it comes to nap time. With that said I just went upstairs for the third time (third times a charm right?!?!) to lay down the law.

Ugh...I had several more paragraphs written and some how just managed to erase them....Sorry guys I'm not typing all of that again. I ran across this on another blog (http://babyrabies.com/) that I read regularly and it's sooo true.

I know that feeling, that excited but scared shitless feeling when the ultrasound tech tells you they see that extra bit of anatomy. “It’s a boy!” Your heart stops for a moment.
“But what will I do with a BOY?” you think to yourself, never daring to utter the thought out loud because, well, you *are* ultimately happy that it’s healthy… but… but… you don’t know how to raise a BOY.
You’re going to be a Boy Mom, and you’re going to be okay. In fact, you’re going to be great. You’ll love it so much that you’ll never be able to imagine NOT being a Boy Mom. It doesn’t matter that you LOVE being a girl, that you embrace every opportunity you get to dress up, do your makeup, get your nails done. It doesn’t matter that you much prefer shopping for shoes to browsing the sports store. Your love for all things zebra print, pink and soft does not mean you can’t and wont develop a love for “little man” clothes, toy trucks and OshKosh overalls paired with a toothy grin and muddy knees.
Being a Boy Mom means slobbery kisses and hugs that start with a running leap.
Being a Boy Mom means saving hundreds on clothes, even if only to spend that amount or more later in life on ER visits.
Being a Boy Mom means developing a keen eye for bugs and coming to terms with the fact that sometimes they can just be considered an extra helping of protein.
Being a Boy Mom doesn’t mean you won’t continue to be squeemish about things like spiders, it just means your squeels will be entertaining to the boy who taunts you by trying to eat one.
Being a Boy Mom means being the builder of block towers so big they lean and topple, leaving you both in stitches.
Being a Boy Mom means developing a very watchful eye while changing diapers, always on the lookout for that surprise pee stream attack.
Being a Boy Mom means having the pleasure of watching your son learn from his father, and then reminding his father that at a certain age they will start to repeat the F word, even if that F word is shouted at a TV during a sporting event.
Being a Boy Mom means you’ve been given the tremendous opportunity and challenge to raise someone who will grow up to be a respectful, loving and kind man. He may break hearts, but hopefully, with your guidance, he will do so gently, and ultimately he will make some lucky partner very, very happy.
Being a Boy Mom may mean giving up the fantasy of getting your nails done together after a frilly tea party, but it’s replaced by so many fun future memories that you can’t even begin to think up because right now you just don’t know what to do with a boy.
Don’t worry… it will come to you.

Staying Warm

I always struggle with what the title of my post should be. So I chose staying warm because lately that seems like all we do. We haven't been able to go outside because it's too cold, we haven't had any play date or group activities for a fear of all the germs going around right now and we haven't been to Target because it seems like every time I step foot into that store I spend at least a $100...seriously I can't every just go to Target and browse...there's always something that I "need"! Mase and I are starting to go a little stir crazy being cooped up in the house all them time...we are ready for spring!!!

The other night Scott and I started thinking about where we want to go for vacation this spring/summer and we are leaning towards renting a beach house in Destin, FL for a week or so. Sounds like a lot of fun to me. It will be our 1st Family Vacation and Mase should be a good age and really enjoy the beach. It's either that or we may do San Antonio (Sea World) and rent a house in the Hill Country. As of today, I'm leaning more towards the beach. We'll see.

Okay friends...I've got to run. Mase is down for his nap so we all know what that means!

Oh yeah..a couple of highlights of my day:
-Before Scott left this morning he had Mason get one of his toys (a Yo Gabba Gabba Microphone) and he picked Mason up and they sang one of the songs together. Then as Scott was walking out the door Mason was following with his microphone and Scott picked him up and said "Okay, one more time before I leave" sooo stinkin cute!
-Rocking my baby this morning during "quiet time" and we both fell a sleep holding each other.

18-months

He's 18-months ya'll!!! When exactly did that happen?!?! We just got home from the Mason's Well Check and I just put him down for his afternoon nap and thought I would try to slip in a blog post before I start getting the house back in order before Cocca gets home from work. I like for the house to be picked-up when he walks in the door, it doesn't happen everyday, but most days I do pretty well. Mason did really well and the doctor. It always a little hard waiting in the waiting room because he roams around and tries to share his snack or take other kids snacks away. Once we get back in the room I can breath a little, but then he's opening every drawer and then opening the door to out of the room to see what all the nurses are doing outside. He was just a talking away to the nurses and Dr. Watkins. Dr. Watkins couldn't believe the vocabulary that he has. I swear the kid knows over 50 words..at least. He has a couple 2 word sentences too. Okay...Okay I try not to be "that" mom who brags about everything her child does, but he just blows me away sometime. Per Dr. Watkins...he's "TALL & Skinny". He's not scared of the Doc at all and even tried to help him with some of his paper work in his chart...what a kid!

After or check-up we met up with one of my old work friends for lunch. Mason is a little challenging these days to take out to eat so I really don't feel like I got to really catch-up. Hopefully we can meet up again soon for some more adult conversation

Tonight my mom is coming over to spend the night after she gets off work because my dad is out of town and she doesn't like staying by herself. Looking forward to her visit. When I talk to her on the phone this afternoon she said that her house was way to quite and I told her not to worry...it's rarely quite at ours.

Okay...got to run. Time to get my booty in gear.

Happy New Year Ya'll!!!

I thought it was about time for a new blog post...after all being a better blogger is one of my New Year's resolutions. The last week in 1/2 Scott and I have been put to the ringer...sure hope that's not a sign of how 2010 is going to go for us. Any who...Mason caught a bug on Christmas day and was sick for about a week in 1/2, then he caught an ear infection and then Scott and I caught it...YUCK! I think we are all on our way to a happier place now. Scott was off for about an week, but now he's back at work and Mase and I are settling back into our weekly routine. Tomorrow is his 18 month check-up...I know right..when did that happen?!?! He has grow quite attached to his mommy these days and is constantly at my saying up...up...up! I still love being a Stay at Home Mom and am so thankful for my husband who works so hard for me to be able to say home and raise our son. We are truly blessed! During last week if felt like God was testing me or at least reminding me to be thankful for the days that Mason is in a good mood and wants to play. Someday he won't want to play with mommy. We have been so lucky with sickness and Mason...this was the first time he got sick. I consider 18 months a pretty long run! So, with that said I'm going to limit my computer time to about an hour before he wakes up in the morning and about 30 minutes while he naps so that I can focus on all that I need to ensure that my family is being taken care of.

Here's a few things I learned while my baby was sick:
-patience
-that Mason ONLY wants his mommy to rock him
-How to take my cars eat apart to get throw-up out of it.

Monday...Monday

Morning! Thought I would try to squeeze a blog post in this morning while waiting for a friend to come over for coffee. Something that has become quite a morning ritual for her and I and the kiddos. No coffee for them though...the have more then enough energy without coffee. Although, Mason loves coffee. Speaking of Mason he's sitting in his high chair that I rolled up to the tv watching Yo Gabba Gabba while eating his breakfast. I know I know...Mother of the Year right?!?! That's was one of the things I said I would never do...that was before I knew what being a mom would be like. This is usually the time where I'm able to go to the bathroom by myself. Okay...enough rambling.

We had a great weekend. Met up with some old friends at Watters Creek in Allen where it just happen to work out that our meeting spot was right in front of the Santa pictures where there was no line. I didn't have any plans to take Mason to see Santa because I refuse to wait in any kind of line long or kind of short to see Santa. So long story short...Mason met Santa for the first time and he loved him! The picture turned out soooo cute! Extremely happy about our first Santa experience. What else...what else...oh yeah we ate at The Cheese Cake Factory after Santa where Scott and I vowed never to eat out with Mason again! He's at this stage where he has a very difficult time eating in a high chair or eating period. I think it's a control thing. Looks like the terrible two's are a coming! I guess that's about it. I'm hoping to get a lot of deep cleaning done in my house and finish up a few Christmas gifts. We are super excited for Christmas and we and my parents have gone completely over board on Mason for Christmas...he's sooo SPOILED!!! I can't believe Christmas is next week...I remember when Christmas use to take FOREVER to get here and now it's like I blink and it's Dec. 25th.

Sorry there isn't any pictures....running out of time...Mason is running this way right now....got to go~

Blessed

He's here...Landon Andrew Walton made his grand entrance into the world Dec. 2nd at 1:29, weighing in at 4.15 lbs and 17 1/2 in. He's perfect! My 1st nephew is absolutely perfect. He gave us lots of fits while he was growing in Laura's belly and lots of worrying took place, but all of that was for nothing because he's as "healthy as an ox"! He has a very healthy set of lungs and believe me I've heard them first hand. Can't wait to get my hands on him again. Laura and Brandon seem to being doing wonderful job and I'm extremely impressed with my brother-in-law who has stepped up and taken charge with his new son...I never doubted that he wouldn't, but it's still pretty cool to watch. As I walked out to the car last night with him it was just him and I and he said to me..."Jenny this is the best day of my life" and he's right, but they just keep getting better. Congratulations Laura and Brandon on your new Perfect Family!
